Fire!!

A day long awaited by all (including neighbors!) we burned "the" brush pile!!
This pile contained tons of yard waste we have unearthed in the last 1.5 of working on the property & of a considerable amount of construction debris!!

Conditions allowed & Scott diligently went to work on it yesterday a.m!!

Right: Fire fighter Frannie, (FFF), keeping a close watch...

Bare feet

There are people all over this airport w/ out shoes on, (which is common place in NZ) (are you cringing Dad?!)
Scott says he hopes they're destination isn't anywhere cold.. I told him I hope it was no where civilized!!!
Scott loving to be barefoot as well paid the price yesterday, when he got stung by a bee in the bottom of his bare foot while walking across the grass! ( he is mildly allergic...although not quite willing to admit it!) I finally got to use that well prepared first aid kit I packed & he survived after a few hrs of pain, numbness & swelling... ( no trip to hospital - Thank Goodness!!)

Hurry up & wait

We have safely returned our amazing Escape rental van in Auckland & are sitting ( which we will be awesome at by the end of the next 24 hours!)...waiting now for a shuttle to pick us up & bring us to the airport to begin our adventure back to the States.

We are both sad to leave, back to "the real world"... But both admittedly anxious to get "home" & see our dog girls & friends & families!!

Bridal veil falls

Coming out of Raglan (surfer's paradise), we drove out 17k on a side road to check out Bridal Veil falls.
This waterfall is a short 10 min walk thru the "bush" & then opens to a stunning view:

The falls is 165' down. We walk the 261 stairs down to the bottom & it's worth it- gorgeous & louder. You can feel the mist from the water hitting the pool even though you are quite far from the fall itself.

Everything behind & around the falls is so lush & green, as you can imagine tropical plants thrive in this sunny misty location!!

261 stairs up was a bit of a workout!! Why is down so much easier than up?!
Unbeknownst to us ( but learned while at the falls), is that this water originates & travels from Pirongia Mountain ( where we were married), and ultimately creates this "bridal veil". We think this is cool & quite ironic!! :)
